AUXILIARY DEVICE CONNECTIONS

AboveAir Technologies units are available with a number of auxiliary safety and control devices. Every unit is wired with connection terminals for the most commonly used devices (unless otherwise noted) as described herein. Refer to the documentation included with the device and the wiring diagram on your unit for more information. Wiring for common field-installed devices can be found at A-FIELD-1.pdf.

Some of your safety devices may come factory mounted, including smoke detectors and condensate pumps. Refer to the supplemental IOMs for more information about these devices.

ALARM DRY CONTACTS

General alarm dry-contacts (AL1, AL2, AL3) are provided with every unit supplied with a micro-processor based control option. These contacts may be programmed to close on a variety of alarms. Refer to the controller section for more information.

Every unit is provided with life safety dry contacts (LS1, LS2, LS3) to indicate life safety alarm status. Additional dry contacts may be available for waterflow switches or condensate overflow. These are wired so that under normal unit operation, a connection across the C-NC terminals will be open; this connection will close on alarm (or if there is no power to the unit).

Do not power these connections from the unit's transformers unless specifically noted on your wiring diagram.

CONDENSATE PUMP

A condensate pump is available for purchase with all units. Connection for the condensate pump is made between the normally-closed condensate pump overflow switch and the CP and WD terminals at the unit's terminal strip. The condensate pump may be provided with a fused connection for single point power or powered separately; refer to your wiring diagram for power connections.

The condensate pump overflow switch is wired in series with the condensate pan switch installed in the unit's drain pan. If both a condensate pump and water detector are provided, then all three devices are wired in series.

Refer to the Plenum Rated Condensate Pump IOM or the Standard Condensate Pump IOM for additional wiring and installation information.

DRY CONTACTS (AUXILIARY CLOSURES)

Dry contacts are provided for a variety of components for connection to field-provided devices. Outside air units ship with damper enable contacts (DE1, DE2) as standard. Water/glycol-Cooled units include pump enable contacts (PE1, PE2) as standard. Other contacts may be available based on the configuration ordered; refer to your wiring diagram and submittal for more information. The C-NO connection will close based on the unit's control sequence. The relays are rated for 250V/8A max.

Do not power these connections from the unit's transformers unless specifically noted on your wiring diagram.

REMOTE START/STOP

Remote start/stop is provided via the RSS and 24 terminals on the unit's terminal strip. The unit ships with these terminals jumpered for normal operation and the jumper must remain in place if this feature is not used. The jumper may be removed and wired through a NC switch rated for 75VA minimum for unit shutdown. This contact may be programmed as a life safety alarm on MC-Series controllers for immediate unit shutdown.

FIRESTAT (DUCT-MOUNTED)

A firestat is available for purchase with all units. The firestat may be mounted upstream or downstream of the unit as indicated on the project documents. The firestat is a NC type and requires a manual reset on alarm. Connections for the firestat are made at the SD and FS terminals at the unit's terminal strip.

If both a firestat and smoke detector are provided, they will be wired in series on the life safety alarm circuit.

Refer to the Firestat IOM for additional wiring and installation information.

SMOKE DETECTOR (DUCT-MOUNTED)

Non-addressable duct-mounted smoke detctors with sampling tubes are available for purchase with all units. The smoke detector(s) may be mounted upstream or downstream of the unit as indicated on the project documents. Connections for the smoke detector are made at the 24, C, and SD terminals at the unit's terminal strip.

If both a firestat and smoke detector are provided, they will be wired in series on the life safety alarm circuit.

Refer to the Smoke Detector IOM for additional wiring and installation information.

WATER DETECTOR (CABLE-TYPE)

A cable-type water detector is available for purchase with all units. The water detector includes the control module, cable lead, cable, and end of line connector; refer to the water detector installation sheet included with the detector for cable connection information. Connections for the cable-type water detector are made at the 24, C, WD, +5, and -5 terminals at the unit's terminal strip.

The water detector is wired in series with the condensate pan switch installed in the unit's drain pan. If both a condensate pump and water detector are provided, then all three devices will be wired in series.

Refer to the Water Detector IOM for additional wiring and installation information.

WATER DETECTOR (PROBE-TYPE)

A probe-type water detector is available for purchase with all units. The water detector is mounted in the unit's auxiliary drain pan and the height of the probes may be adjusted for alarming. To avoid false alarms, do not allow the probes to come into contact with the drain pain . Connections for the probe-type water detector are made at the 24, C, and WD terminals at the unit's terminal strip.

The water detector is wired in series with the condensate pan switch installed in the unit's drain pan. If both a condensate pump and water detector are provided, then all three devices will be wired in series.

Refer to the Water Detector IOM for additional wiring and installation information.
