REFRIGERANT LINE SIZING

This calculator will compute your suction, discharge, and/or liquid line sizes given the horizontal and vertical line lengths and fitting counts. Refer to Refrigerant Piping for more information about piping requirements and limitations. Refer to your submittal or Refrigerant Piping for which pipes are required for your configuration.

NOTES
  1. Version 1.1, November 6 2023. This calculator is based on ASHRAE 2018 Refrigeration manual data and is provided to assist AboveAir Technologies's partners in sizing refrigerant piping. All other use prohibited.
  2. Suction line sizing based on 2°F change in saturation temperature, discharge line sizing based on 1°F change in saturation temperature, liquid line sizing based on 1°F change in saturation temperature.
  3. 90° elbows are long-radius. For standard radius elbows, substitute quantity (2) 45° elbows.
  4. Use discharge gas line sizing for field-installed hot gas reheat lines.
  5. Size piping for fixed speed and digital scroll compressors for 100% of their maximum circuit capacity.
  6. Size piping for 2-Stage compressors for 66.7% of their maximum circuit capacity.
